Ghenova Netherlands Engineering offers Green solution for a TSHD

The Green solution for a trailing suction hopper dredger designs of 1200m3

Ghenova Netherlands Engineering (GNE), a Dutch Marine Design Consultancy introduces a new compact and innovative design for Trailing Suction Hopper Dredger of 1200m3.

GNE, a Dutch company located in the south of Holland, introduces the new dredger for the ever increasing demand of dredgers in the Marine World. The demand for the dredgers is increasing steadily in the Middle east. With the public infrastructure in the gulf growing at a mind blogging rate, a number of offshore projects are on its way, and land reclamation for building artificial islands..

Major Public infrastructure and land reclamation works happening in Qatar which revealed its 2020 vision in the recent Cityscape Qatar 2013 show at the Doha Exhibition centre. The Oryx Island project, which is at the conceptual phase, is an integrated pedestrian exclusive development that will be able to accommodate about 25,000 people.

It is estimated that between 25 and 30 new dredgers are needed each year in the Gulf, just to keep up with the unprecedented level of offshore construction-related land reclamation and marine projects.

GNE offers a design characterized by a well balanced mix between draught, hopper load and the vessel’s weight, without forgetting new environmental regulations. The design is aimed at the bottom side of the hopper market, with a hopper capacity of 1200 m3 and dredging installation of 500 mm.

The design offers very impressive options:

  1. Ballast water treatment System
  2. SCR Units Diesel Engines
  3. Classification “Clean Ship Super”
  4. Suction Tube of 600mm
  5. Degassing Installation
  6. Hopper Diluting Pump
  7. Additional Loading points

Main Dimensions:

  • LOA = 70m
  • Breadth (Moulded) = 13.65m
  • Depth (Moulded) = 4.90m
  • Dredging draught = 3.40m
  • DWT “all told” at 3.40m = 1550tons
  • Total Hopper Volume = 1200m3
  • Loaded Services Speed = 9.5 knots
  • Crew = 8 People

Classification: BUREAU VERITAS “Clean Ship”

GNE has given attention to of the Dredging and Environmental Characteristics as well: The new design offers

  1. One man bridge control for the sailing and dredging related process equipment
  2. One dredge/Shore discharge single walled dredged pump (Pdredge = 550kW/Pdischarge= 850kW
  3. Two high efficient electrically driven jet water pumps, each with a power of 110kW
  4. One suction tube of 500mm, suitable for a dredging depth of at least 27.5m
  5. Diesel driven propulsion thruster of 550kW and electrical bow thruster of 250kW for optimum maneuverability

The GNE’s reliable and innovative dredger design is introduced to suit the industry requirement. The energy efficient design and environmental friendly design provides a long operational life with low maintenance. The design being classified as Clean Ship, GNE is constantly working on bringing more of these innovative designs to suit your requirements. The USP of the design is:

–          Relative low draught in relation with actual dredgers

–          Modern technology using DC-bus principle for propulsion of bowthruster and jetpumps

–          Excellent maneuverability by using 360-degr rotatable thrusters (is not common in this range of dredgers)

Ghenova looks forward to serve you.
